THE MYSTERY BAND AT THE COUNTY-LINE BAR

Back Booth Betty · Outside Jacksonville, Florida · 9/2/2026

Friday night, a country band nobody had ever heard of pulled into the County Line Bar after their van broke down. The owner offered them free burgers and enough gas money to reach Jacksonville if they played a few songs. By midnight, everybody was dancing—including Deputy Collins, who had only stopped by to ask them to move the van. The band played for three hours, collected $417 in tips and left without telling anyone their name. Now half the town claims they were famous. The other half claims they were terrible. Both halves want them back next Friday.

THE WHOLE TOWN MISSED THE BOAT

Last One Off the Dock · Whittier, Alaska · 9/2/2026

Saturday’s fishing trip ended before it started when twelve locals stood on the dock arguing about who was supposed to bring the bait. Everybody remembered the beer. Somebody brought three bags of ice. Frank even packed enough sandwiches to feed the entire town—but nobody brought bait. After forty minutes of blaming one another, they noticed the boat was also gone. The owner had moved it to a different harbor the night before and forgotten to tell anyone. They spent the afternoon sitting on the dock, eating sandwiches and telling people they had already caught their limit.

FIRST DUI—ON A TRACTOR

Concerned but Not Surprised · Wisconsin · 9/2/2026

Well, Earl finally got his first DUI Tuesday afternoon—and he wasn't even driving his truck. After spending most of the day at Murphy's Tap, Earl decided he was being responsible and left his pickup parked out front. Instead, he climbed onto his John Deere and headed home at nine miles an hour. The deputy stopped him three miles outside town, holding up a line of seven cars and one school bus. Earl reportedly said, "I didn't know you could get a DUI on a tractor." The deputy replied, "Earl, a DUI is a DUI." Everyone at Murphy's agreed it was the smartest dumb decision Earl has made all year.
